Waste sorting is now an essential part of everyday life, in town centres, at events, in public spaces and in the workplace.
Existing systems are often inefficient: users throw their waste away without paying much attention and, not infrequently, into the wrong bin. The quality of the sorting thus achieved does not allow the waste collected to be recycled, and it ends up being incinerated.
With the sorting column, the Foundation is offering an innovative sorting system. Users are confronted with a vertical piece of furniture, as opposed to traditional sorting bins lined up side by side. This new feature boosts sorting quality to over 93%, giving waste a second life in recycling channels.
Beyond the sorting challenges it helps address, the sorting station also integrates environmental protection into its design: from being made with durable materials to optimizing volumes to reduce material use, as well as a system of interchangeable front panels that allows the waste streams to be updated quickly. The sorting station is also entirely produced in a sheltered workshop in Switzerland, which also gives it social value.
